Welcome to Lisa's doula blog: Insights & Tips from a London Doula

June 22, 2026
One of the most common worries I hear from pregnant women, particularly towards the end of pregnancy, goes something like this: "I don't know if I'm worrying about nothing, but my baby's movements don't quite feel the same today. I'm scared that if I go in they'll just tell me I need to be induced." It's a genuine fear for many women and one that can put them off seeking assessment altogether. I've lost count of the number of times I've had this conversation with clients, so when the updated RCOG Green-top Guideline on Reduced Fetal Movements was recently published (February 2026) I wanted to sit down and read it carefully myself. I wanted to understand what it actually says, where there is good evidence, where there is uncertainty and how women can approach these conversations with confidence. As always, this article is intended to help you understand the evidence and have informed conversations with your own healthcare team. It is not a substitute for individual medical advice.
