Antenatal Refresher Course

Antenatal Refresher Courses

Come and join me on one of my fun, informal and informative antenatal refresher courses. Held in-person to allow you to meet other parents at the same stage as you.

Before the workshop I offer a one-to-one birth & early days reflection session, including a discussion about your birth preferences and feeding plan for this time around, and how to prepare to meet your goals.

At the Sunday morning workshop we will discuss: how to prepare practically and emotionally for your new baby, introducing your children, early days of life with two (or more!), mum’s postpartum recovery, common feelings for parents and older children, helpful kit to have, getting out and about and managing the daily routines in the way that suits you.

I will also provide you with a local directory jam-packed with information about where to access local services for your own health and well-being and getting out and about in the community.

See FAQ section below for more information, or do not hesitate to get in contact if you need more information.

FAQs Antenatal Refresher Course:

Is the course suitable for any age gaps between children?

Yes it is, I will collect a little bit of information from you about your family with your booking confirmation. I always make sure my content is tailored and applicable to those attending, so when we talk about preparation, feelings, routines etc I will be mindful of the age of siblings.

Why do you offer the one to one labour and early days reflections call?

The one to one reflection call is totally optional, but I would really encourage you to take the opportunity of a protected space to think about your experiences last time around: what went well, what was challenging, what you want to keep the same and what you might like to change! I can signpost you to loads of useful information and sources of support depending on what comes up during the call. As this will vary so much from family to family it is better to have it on an individual basis.

Is there a chance to stay connected to other couples on the course?

Yes, absolutely. This is a big motivation for me in the running the course as I know how important it is to have friends to walk these stages of life with. There will be a WhatsApp group set up for each course if you wish to join this. I will also be hosting weekly coffee meets in Wimbledon from September (venue TBC) which would provide a good starting point for meet ups after the course.

I’ve already had one baby, am I really going to learn anything?

The main reason I love teaching this course is because you come with all the experience and confidence of being parents already, and I love incorporating everyone’s ideas into the workshop content. If feels like you forget a lot of things between babies, but taking the time to recap is really useful to encourage you about all you already know. The majority of the workshop content is about adjusting to life with two or more - adding a new child to your family is always a new experience and the course is there to help you work out how to make the transition in the best way for you all.

Is my partner welcome?

Partners are really encouraged to attend both the reflections call and the workshop itself. However I completely understand this is not always straightforward with childcare and mum is more than welcome to come along on her own. There is usually a mix of mums and couples on the course so you can feel relaxed either way.

Can I bring my older child(ren) along to the workshop?

I want you to get as much out of the workshop content as possible, and therefore it is not possible to bring older children along because as you can imagine that would change the vibe somewhat! If you are unable to leave your child but want to do the course then get in contact as I am able to run the course privately and link you into a group for social support if you would prefer this.
